Nepal – partnership & support
News of another earthquake today brings even more devastation to the situation in Nepal. We are continuing our support project through the month of May — read below about the relational partnership we have through Mat and others, and ways that you can give.
Our post from last week:
I’m sure each of us has felt overwhelming compassion for the nearly 8 million people who have been affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. As we have prayed, God has reminded us of the faithful relationships that have been built over the years with relating NCMI churches there. We have been so inspired by our brothers and sisters in Nepal as we have heard their incredible testimonies of sharing the love of Christ through loving their neighbors. Despite their poverty they have responded with rich generosity and have given even beyond their means.
In some of the hardest hit villages, teams from the Nepalese churches that we have friendship with have brought truckloads of relief supplies to villagers. The preaching of the gospel has been at the forefront of these relief efforts and the Nepalese in need of food, drinking water, shelter/tents and medical care are witnessing and receiving the love of Christ through these local churches.
As an eldership team we believe the Lord has given us grace to give financially to these local churches in Nepal to support and help to resource their relief efforts and we invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in giving offerings over and above your tithe. We count it an incredible privilege to partner with our Nepalese brothers and sisters, who we know as friends and therefore our giving is going directly to trustworthy partners on the ground. One dollar given has the effect of nearly $10 in Nepal so an offering of any size can have a major impact.
We will gather offerings until Sunday May 31st and add those to the amount that CITC will be sending as a love gift to our friends in Nepal. Giving options are detailed below.
“And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people.”
