“Starting to Soar” – Feedback: Trip to Central Church (Waterloo, ON) – Aug 21-23, 2015
Back in August I had the opportunity to visit Central Church in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The church is led by Mike and Emma Shehan, and it was a fantastic time.
In the last year and a half, Central Church has gone through a pretty significant transition, with Mike taking over as the lead elder and assuming leadership over the church. Church in the City played a part in helping them walk through that, too. Whether it was sending someone to help preach or just prayerfully providing support, it’s great to relate to other local churches in building lasting impact for the Kingdom of God.
I got to preach on this last visit, and it was great to see the people of Central Church hungry and excited for the Word of God. I preached within their summer series on Acts, studying how the Holy Spirit empowers the Church to continue the ministry of Jesus.
But probably the most impactful thing for me to see was how well Mike and Emma have built within the family of Central Church, specifically in the area of raising up leaders. They have focused relentlessly on that for the past year, and they are bearing fruit.
It’s so exciting to see what God is doing in other cities, in other local churches, in partnership for His glory. As you pray, remember to lift up Mike and Emma and the family of Central Church.
