Partnership with Churches Across Canada

During the past 3 weeks I had the opportunity to travel and minister on the two opposite ends of Canada. It was a privilege to see and experience what God is doing in the nation as a whole but also partner with local church bodies and their leaders to help “equip the saints for the work of ministry”.

3 weeks ago – as part of serving on the NCMI apostolic ministry team in North America – I flew out to Nanaimo, BC (which is on Vancouver Island) to join churches from across Canada at the Canadian EQUIP. EQUIP weeks are held annually in regions across the world with the purpose of gathering partnering churches together for a week of teaching, training, worship, ministry and fellowship. It was a delight to enjoy everything from one-on-one fellowship with other saints over a meal hearing what God is doing, sitting in apostolic team meetings praying for and over Canada, sitting shoulder to shoulder with other church leaders being ministered to through the preached word and praying over and for people as they responded to the love of Jesus expressed in various ways. The last evening of the EQUIP was particular sweet as God met His people in a significant way as over 400 people cried out with one voice for God to move upon the nation.

The weekend after the EQUIP I drove to Victoria, BC (still on Vancouver Island) to visit with Trinity Church, led by Mark and Jen duToit. Trinity has a rich history in Victoria and this year they celebrate 50 years in the city. The previous 2 couples who led the church and represent over 40 years of leadership at Trinity are both still part of the church and support Mark and Jen wonderfully. My time with the church involved a day with the eldership team and then preaching at their Sunday morning meeting.

Last Sunday Debs and I traveled to Waterloo, ON (an hour outside of Toronto) to minister at Central Church. CITC has been partnering with Central for over 7 years and various leaders and teams have ministered their over the years. Mike and Emma Shehan – who have been leading for a little over 2 years – are doing an outstanding job and not only are they leading themselves and their young family well through this new role but the church is at a great place; full of life and evidences of the hand of the Lord. Outside of the always valuable and refreshing friendship time with Mike and Emma and our hosts, we spent time with their key leaders, Debs ministered to the women and then I preached and ministered at a church gathering on Saturday and their regular Sunday church meeting.

Thank you for your prayers while we traveled. It certainly is a joy to partner as a base church with others and help them in ways that we are able but there is no place like home. We certainly consider it a privilege to be invited to minister elsewhere and we always go with faith, hoping that we can serve and help in some way but every time we are away our hearts long to be with our church family in our amazing city. We consider it an incredible honor to be part of the CITC family.
