Feedback: Pray Chicago in Garfield Park – Jun 17th, 2015
Last night was the latest edition of Pray Chicago, a city-wide prayer initiative, which this time met on the West side under the gold dome of the Garfield Park fieldhouse.
Pray Chicago was birthed out of a response to the violence on our streets, and has become a movement focused on seeing the 77 neighborhoods of Chicago unified in seeking God on behalf our city.
The Pray Chicago team planned an incredible event last night, including prayer walks from local Elementary schools led by local pastors, a BBQ hosted by local churches and CAPS, booths representing various ministries and partners, and a two-hour prayer & worship (gospel choir!) gathering of people from across Chicago. It was a powerful night of unified prayer, solidarity against violence in our city, and relationship building between a diverse group of Jesus-followers. Many leaders spoke and led those gathered through various prayer themes as well as times of group prayer. It is a beautiful thing to see unity of heart through prayer and worship.
It was also wonderful to participate with volunteers from various churches and organizations to help make this event possible.
Each Pray Chicago event has taken place in a different region of Chicago, and momentum is building as more and more people and churches see and get behind what God is doing in our city. We are trusting for continued growth and partnership in Chicago, and we believe that Pray Chicago is an important part of that.
Save-the-date: the next Pray Chicago will take place on the North-side, location TBA, on Thursday, September 17th from 6-8pm.
