Feedback: Partnering with Zion Church (Boston, MA) – April 3-5, 2015

Posted by churchinthecity in Ministry Trips, Testimony

Zion is a new church, planted in Dedham, MA (about 30min SW of Boston) led by Justin & Kerry Donlon. Zion was launched last fall from Justin & Kerry’s home but started meeting at a community center (Dedham Community House) every Sunday since the start of the year. We’ve been partnering in various ways with the Donlons since their move to Boston in 2012 and with Zion since it was planted. Most recently Nate & Jamie visited Nov last year to build friendship with the planting team, encourage them with some of CITC’s “early days” experiences, and help with setting up the sound system used for their Sunday gatherings.

Debs, Becs and I were there over the Easter weekend and enjoyed an amazing few days laughing together, encouraging one another, enjoying the sights and sounds of Boston (cannolis from the North End and Boston Cream Pie) and celebrating resurrection Sunday together. Justin & Kerry lead a gifted team who are eager to see Jesus build His church and impact the city of Boston and its surrounding suburbs. Within the team are high-capacity people with amazing servant hearts who have the singular devotion and passion for Jesus to see His desires for the church come to fruition.

Debs and Becs partnered with Devin (Kerry’s brother) in leading worship on Sunday morning and I had the privilege of preaching on Jn 3:16. After the “regular” Sunday meeting, we gathered again where we were able to encourage the church from Scripture and our church planting experiences to “press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of (them)” (Phil 3:12).

Please continue to pray for Justin & Kerry, their young kids (Michaela and Judah) and the team at Zion. The early days of church planting can be an incredibly lonely and vulnerable time, often filled with many unanswered questions. Pray that they would continue to desire Jesus more than anything or anyone. Pray for the courage to do only that which He would have them do. Pray for impact into the community. Pray for salvations. Pray for new friends and partners to be added to the Zion family. Pray that Jesus be exalted across the Great Boston area (home to nearly 5 million residents; 10th largest metro area in the US).
